Offboarding
Structured exits — equipment, access, compliance, knowledge transfer, would-rehire signal.
Onboarding has been a thing for a decade. Offboarding usually isn't. The result: stale access, lost laptops, no exit interview, and no would-rehire data feeding back into your hiring quality metrics. This module fixes all of that with a 10-task seeded checklist and a finalize step that closes the quality-of-hire loop.
What you get
Built to solve the actual problems hiring teams hit every day.
10-task seeded checklist
Every new workflow starts with the standard checklist: revoke access, collect equipment, schedule exit interview, notify FSO for cleared roles, process final paycheck. Tick them off as you go.
Cleared-staffing specific tasks
Cleared role? The seeded checklist includes "notify clearance FSO" and "collect CAC / smart card / tokens" — easy to miss without a prompt.
Six exit reasons
voluntary, involuntary, contract_end, reduction_in_force, retirement, other. Filters and reports can later split on this.
Auto-status transitions
First task completion bumps the workflow from scheduled to in_progress. Completing all tasks bumps it to completed. No manual status maintenance.
Would-rehire + exit interview capture
A separate finalize step captures would_rehire, exit interview notes, and knowledge transfer notes — feeds Quality of Hire on /reports.
How it works
Four steps from setup to value.
Start a workflow
On /offboarding, click "Start offboarding". Pick the person, reason, and exit date. 10 standard tasks seed automatically.
Tick tasks as you go
Check off equipment return, access revocation, etc. Progress bar updates live.
Run the exit interview
Click "Capture exit details" to record would_rehire and the conversation notes.
Auto-complete
When the last task is checked, the workflow auto-transitions to completed with a timestamp.
FAQ
Quick answers to common questions.
Can I customize the seeded task list?
Today the 10 standard tasks are baked into the workflow-create endpoint. Per-org templates are on the roadmap.
Does it auto-close the candidate's assignment?
Not yet — the workflow links to the assignment but doesn't flip it to terminated automatically. Roadmap.
How does the would-rehire signal flow into hiring metrics?
It's captured on hr_offboarding_workflows alongside the same field on hr_performance_reviews. The Quality of Hire composite on /reports can later read from both sources.
